Age of Empires HD and Definitive Editions have sold 5 million copies

The age of empires franchise has sold 5 million copies since February 2009.

The news was revealed by the director of the creation of Monsarrat Inc., Brian Sullivan, on LinkedIn and shared on Twitter by the Niko Partners analyst, Daniel Ahmad.

AoE2 Intro: Chess analysis

Monsarrat is a company led by Sullivan, the co-creator of age of empires , and he himself discussed the numbers in an update of his curriculum vitae.

Age of empires sold 25 million units and won $ 1 billion, explains the former Microsoft Creator, updating the last figure that had been shared in February 2009 and claiming that the series had sold 20 million Copies.

If this was ok, and we can not be sure, because Microsoft does not generally share sales data for its greatest games, it would mean that the Empire Securities has sold 5 million copies at during the last ten years.

In this period, the IP launched age of empires II: HD (and enlargement) edition in 2013, age of empires: final edition (2017) and age of empire II: Final edition (2019).

These figures should become even more important because Microsoft is currently working on a definitive edition.

It should be noted that The Age of Empires II: definitive edition is also included in Xbox Game Pass for PC, which means that the actual number of players could be even higher. Its publisher also plans to integrate it on the console.
