According to the recent annual report, REMEDY Entertainment continues to grow on growth course (April-June 2021: Sales: 9.4 million euros; Operating income: 2.3 million euros). The revenue of Control was slightly higher in the second quarter of 2021 than in the second quarter of 2020. The action adventure has been played by more than ten million people since the start of sales in August 2019, including the Xbox Game Pass, Rabatting and a Free Action in EPIC Games Store.
The growing audience and the brand's awareness are valuable for the further support of Control and the development of Condor - and we are in the early conception phase for a future control game with a larger budget, says Tero Virtala (CEO ). In June, we signed a co-publishing and development agreement with 505 games for a newly announced game project called Condor. Condor is a cooperative 4-player PVE game (players against the computer-controlled environment) in the world (... is located by Control. In addition, we have agreed on cooperation for a future control game with greater budget. This is a good example that we are able to develop franchises from which several successful, high quality Future games can be created. With a trusted partner, such as 505 games, we can strategically expand our role as a publisher.
Furthermore, a small Crossfire team at Remedy takes care of the story mode of Crossfire HD and Crossfirex. Virtala expects the publication over the course of the year for Xbox One and Xbox Series X / s. The Multiplayer mode of Crossfire HD has been published in China in June by SmileGate and Tencent.
The AAA game project, which is realized in collaboration with EPIC Games, is now in full production mode (rumor: Alan Wake 2). A second, smaller game is also in full production mode. Both titles are located in the Shared Universe (Remedy Connected Universe) of Alan Wake and Control. Last but not least, the development of Vanguard (Free-to-Play; Koop) should progress well. With selected internal and external partners, first gameplay tests are performed.
The company continues to grow and now employs nearly 300 people (end of June: 293). In addition, other places are advertised.
Tero Virtala (CEO): I am satisfied with the progress we have done in 2021. Our financial position is stronger than before. Control continues to achieve new players, is expanded with new games and is a strong proof of our ability to create genre-prone games and brands. Our multiproject model continues to develop continuously and we approach a phase in which we can bring more frequently and regular new games to market. We are on the way to reach our ambitious long-term growth goals.
