[Inews 24 Reporter Young-soo Moon] The second international competition of 'Valorant' e-sports in 2022 will be held in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
Riot Games (Korea Representative Cho Hyuk-jin) will hold the Valorant Champions Tour Masters Stage 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark, which will kick off with the opening match between Korea representative 'DRX' and Japanese representative 'Noception' on the 10th (Korean time), and the final on the 25th. It was announced that they would enter into a blood battle for two weeks.
As part of the Valorant Champions Tour, the Masters will feature 12 teams with the best skills in 7 regions including Korea, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), North America (NA), Asia Pacific (APAC), Brazil, Japan and Latin America. It is an international competition in which participants compete to win a total prize of $650,000 (about 840 million won) and circuit points.
Circuit points are required to participate in 'Valorant Champions', the most prestigious competition in Valorant e-sports to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in September.
As the representative of Korea, DRX, who won the Silless Set at the Valorant Challengers Korea Stage 2, participated, and as representatives of Europe, Middle East and Africa, FNATIC, FunPlus Phoenix, and Guild Esports, XSET and the last Masters Stage 1 winner, Optic Gaming, participated as representatives of North America.
As in the previous Masters Stage 1, Paper Rex and XERXIA will participate as Asia Pacific representatives, and Leviatán and KRÜ Esports will participate as Latin American representatives. LOUD, who finished runner-up in Masters 1, again represented Brazil, and Noception was represented in Japan, where the Valorant boom occurred as the Zeta Division finished third.
Valorant Masters Stage 2 consists of a group stage and a double-elimination match. The group stage, which runs from the 10th to the 14th, is divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. Group A consists of Optical Gaming, Guild Esports, Loud, and Crew Esports, while Group B consists of DRX, Fun Plus Phoenix, Noception, and Xercia.
In the first match of the group stage, the winning team moves down to the winner's group, and the loser goes down to the loser's group, and the team that wins the winner's group advances to the playoffs as the first place in the group. In the final match between the loser and the loser group, the winning team will advance to the double-elimination bracket as 2nd place in the group.
The double-elimination bracket has the character of a playoff that actually leads to the final. Four teams, Fnatic, Xset, Paper Rex, and Leviathan, who took first place in the most competitive region, go straight to the double-elimination match without going through the group stage. They play against the four teams that have passed the group stage.
If they lose both matches, they will be eliminated, and the winner of the winner's final and the winner of the loser's final will face off in the final on the 25th. Most matches will be played on a best-of-three system, but the losers final and final will be played on a best-of-five system.
